Find out about Design Review

Design Review is a means of evaluating a design proposal this can happen up to the assessment of a planning application but has the most benefit at pre application stage. There are a number of ways this can happen and depends on the size and type of the project. It is a tested means of providing objective, expert advice in order to achieve the best possible development.

If you have a proposal you would like to put forward for design review or would like advice on when or which panel to refer to, please get in touch.

We can advise on operation of local design review panels and offer advice on procedure and management of the process.

Independent Design Assessment

Drawing on experienced and independent critical opinion amongst the academic and professional communities within the region, we are able to provide an informed critique of proposals and engage in creative dialogue with design teams and their clients. Our intention is to encourage high quality proposals and to be supportive of good design within realistic parameters. The nature of the advice might range from and informal critical review through to a full written report following a site visit and detailed consultation.

Design Review

"As a region we should be proud of our heritage and protect it where necessary. But new projects can contribute positively to the quality of the public realm. Our ambition should be to build tomorrow's heritage today."

Peter Clegg, Chair,
