In the Southwest champions are supported by Creating Excellence as the overall coordinator and centre for The ‘South East' (Dorset/Poole/Bournemouth/ the southern part of Wiltshire).
ACD&C covers the The ‘Far South West' (Devon/Cornwall/Plymouth/Torbay).
The Architecture Centre Bristol covering The ‘North East' (Gloucestershire/South Gloucestershire/North Somerset/Bristol/Bath and North East Somerset/Somerset/Swindon and the northern part of Wiltshire).
As one of its key strategies the centre aims to serve the Design Champions and Historic Environment Champions from local authorities in the South West, by providing information to support the role, and ideas on how to be effective as champions. We hope that champions from other sectors will find much of what follows relevant to their own work, whether they be within a housing association, an NHS Trust or a major house-builder or other developer; the pursuit of a high quality, sustainable environment and all the social, economic and environmental benefits that flow from that, will be common to all.
If you are a newly appointed Design or Heritage Environment Champion and you would like an induction pack and receive our newsletters.
The new programme will commence September 2007 and will focus on ‘Building in Context'.
