We are able to offer independent support in the key pre-feasibility stage of a project and, for instance, can provide impartial advice and assistance in developing a project brief or helping procure a suitable design team. We have close links with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment and seek to help with projects that fall outside their immediate interest or capacity to help. This type of support extends to development of design codes and projects targeting sustainable urban design.
The level of assistance we can provide ranges from full organisation and management, to the provision of independent assessors or simply offering guidance on good practice. We would particularly encourage the use of competitions to source ideas from new designers and engaging public opinion as part of the selection process.
The service for design competitions (design team procurement) includes EU e-procurement OJEU procedures.
The centre can also help run ideas competitions locally or nationally and for schools.
