The Way We Live

The Way we Live

"This film is made for the people of the Blitz in the hope that their newly built cities will be worthy of their fortitude" - Jill Craigie

Wednesday 10 November 2.30pm, 6pm Thursday 11 November 1pm, 8.30pm

Screening in partnership with Architecture Centre Devon and Cornwall as part of their Heritage Lottery Funded project – Plymouth: 20th century city, Plymouth Art Centre will be screening Jill Craigie’s documentary The Way We Live.

Made in 1946, the film shows the conception of the Watson-Abercrombie plan for the rebuilding of Plymouth after the terrible devastation of the Blitz.  Seen through the eyes of one family. It is a remarkable record of how the city has been shaped and continues to evolve.

Matinee screenings will be introduced by Marie Sellars, Education and Projects Manager at the Architecture Centre Devon and Cornwall.  Evening screenings will be introduced by Anna Navas, Plymouth Art Centre’s Film Programmer. There will be an opportunity for discussion after each of the screenings.

Early booking is strongly recommended. Tickets from £4.50.  Call 01752 206114.
