Promoting Good Design

The centre works in a number of ways to promote good design, through the CABE and English Heritage Design and Heritage Environment Champions programme, through design review and a wide range of client support services. If you are looking for exemplars in design or would like advice on specialist areas we may be able to help.

Projects and Initiatives

We are always willing to provide a sounding board for projects and initiatives which, whilst not necessarily directly within our normal sphere of operation, we may be able to help by ‘signposting' to other organisations for assistance or support by raising public awareness.

Public Consultation and Participation

We are keen to support the use of in-depth and extended consultative events to solve complex planning and development issues in urban and rural settings. Typically these would bring together all the key stake-holders and decision-makers to reach consensual and conclusive results based on principles of good design. The means by which we achieve this might include creating informative exhibitions, facilitating public meetings, or devising more creative techniques or ways of working that are more accessible for younger and older members of the community.

We also work with other organisations such as Planning Aid which can provide support in this field.
