What we do

The main purpose and key activities of the Architecture Centre Devon and Cornwall are:-

  • Promoting design excellence and raising awareness of design issues including sustainability, responding to climate change and new design in historic environments, through workshops and events.
  • Activity ‘on the ground' is supplemented by providing access to best practice literature, case studies and guidance resources using appropriate media. 
  • Engaging the public through design workshops, events and exhibitions in order to increase skill capacity and encourage communities (including specific communities of interest and elected representatives) to become involved in the design and planning processes.
  • Working with Schools and Higher Education institutions to promote understanding of design in the built environment.
  • To raise aspiration and make Architecture and Urban Design accessible and inspirational.
  • Providing services in respect of client support, design review and design services procurement advice.

CABE, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, is the government’s advisor on architecture, urban design and public space.

Creating:excellence is the South West centre for sustainable communities.

The Architecture Centre Network

There are 22 member organisations of the network, the Architecture Centre Devon and Cornwall is the youngest.

Architecture Centre Bristol
ACD&C works closely with Bristol to cover the South West region.

Royal Institute of British Architects

The Architecture Centre also collaborates with RIBA southwest.
