Public space

About CABE Space

CABE Space aims to bring excellence to the design and management of public spaces in our towns and cities.

CABE Space works with national, regional and local bodies on the delivery of parks and public spaces in the public, private and voluntary sector. We help these organisations think about the benefits of well planned, designed, managed and maintained parks and public space.

Space enabling

Our enabling service helps clients develop open space strategies and green infrastructure frameworks. We also help with spaces like streets, squares and neighbourhood spaces.

Standards and best practice

We publish good practice guides and promote tools like the Green Flag Award and Spaceshaper toolkit.

Policy and research

We build an evidence base to demonstrate the economic, social and environmental benefits of good quality public space. We use this to inform and influence thinking about how we plan, design, resource and manage these assets.

Training

We provide training for parks and public space professionals like the Urban design summer school and the CABE Space leaders programme.

Who is behind CABE Space?

Our work is guided by the CABE Space advisory committee and our strategic partners Groundwork, GreenSpace, Landscape Institute and Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management.
