The Architects Registration Board (ARB) was established by an Act of Parliament, the Architects Act, in 1997. ARB is the independent statutory regulator of all UK registered architects.
ARB has a dual mandate to protect the consumer and to safeguard the reputation of architects.

You can search the English Heritage database for listed buildings. Register with the website to find out free of charge.
Always check your proposals with the local authority planning department, altering or demolishing a listed building without consent is a criminal offence. Your conservation officer will also be able to tell you if the property is within a conservation area this may affect alterations to your property or a new development.
