Richard Summers elected as 2009 RTPI Junior Vice President

The RTPI is pleased to announce that Richard Summers has been elected as Junior Vice President for 2009. He has a wealth of experience to bring to this role as a Trustee of the Institute, a member of the Executive Board, Chairman of the Planning Policy & Practice Committee, Chairman of the Steering Group on Effective Practice in Spatial Planning and former Chairman of the East of England Region of the RTPI. Richard will take up his new role on 22 January 2009. Following his Junior Vice Presidential year in 2009, Richard will become Senior Vice President in 2010 and President of the RTPI in 2011.

What is happening?

The RTPI is delighted to welcome Sara Drake as she starts her new role as Managing Director at the Institute. A key recommendation of the recent restructuring proposals was the appointment of an MD, as part of a package of changes all designed to help place the RTPI in an even stronger position to develop, improve and champion planning and the profession. A new Executive Team has also been announced with the appointment of Rynd Smith as Director of Policy and Partnerships and Sue Percy to the position of Director of Professional Services from 1 January 2009.
